Evening tours

If you are a member of a group or society and are looking for an interesting and inspiring evening out in the summer months, why not book an evening tour at the ATC.  Our knowledgeable volunteers and staff will guide you through the history, ethos and buildings of the ATC and even make you a cup of tea at the end!  This is a lovely way to explore the site and its buildings and have a chance to ask questions in a relaxed setting.  The charge for a 2 hour evening tour is £55.00 per group and all proceeds go to the ATC Volunteers Association.

Please contact us at atc@dorsetcc.gov.uk or 01725 517618 to book.

There are toilets and disabled access toilets on site.

Earthouse
Storytellings

Come to the Earthouse and enjoy some of the world’s best storytellers keeping this ancient tradition alive. Their magical tales combine with the fire lit splendour of the monumental Earthouse to create a memorable experience.

The ticket price includes a warm drink during the interval – bring a cushion and wrap up warm.

Vikings

Our Viking open weekend each summer is already very popular, with an interesting mix of re-enactors, market stalls, story telling, Dark Age music, ATC demonstrations and activities and refreshments, it is the perfect way to spend a summer’s day!

This year we are launching more themed weekends to focus on the range of time periods that we teach from the Stone Age to the Romans.  These weekends really bring the past alive!

Open Weekends
Tools

Our Ancient Days are designed to show the public the work that goes on at the centre throughout the year. Everything we do is determined by the seasons and these days will showcase the tools and skills that maintain the centre during each season.  Come and talk to the people who have helped to build our structures and maintain the site – see ancient and traditional skills and crafts and take part in some of them.  Our Ancient Days will be a mixture of demonstrations and “have a go” sessions and always with something for children to get stuck into!

Homemade teas, cakes and burgers made from locally-reared beef will be available in the Longhouse with proceeds going towards the support of the ATC Volunteers Association
